In general I see a world unfolding where AMM play a different role.
Currently most protocols are focused on capture free floating capital, which is for profit and maybe some usage in DeFi AMM liquidity as collateral and to go long.
Future: AMM are for any assets and don't need to make profit at any cost. Its part of the MM for assets and asset issuers will bring the capital/liquidity and subsidize this.
It's an expense for them and they are fine with it. Ofc they don't want to book insane loss, but they don't expect to make money from it.
Curve is well positioned for that future, with FXswap we have a swap who is cutting an area into the design space and works well for low volatile assets.
DeFi will shift to build tools to make the existing technology easy to use and more predictable. Services need to be build to optimism AMM on a ongoing bases. The system right now is too static, params need to be adjusted dynamically and react to changing market condition. (flow/TVL/volatility/price)
This will not happening over night. The timescale I think in this is 5-10 years out.
